The birthplace of Gavrila Gaidargi village of Karbolia, the Vulcanesht district. From here he went to Tiraspol to enter the pedagogical school. The name of Gaidargi is associated with the discovery and formation of the Department of Philology at the State Pedagogical Institute.

Being the leader of linguistics in Moldova, Gavril Arkadievich developed textbooks in his native language, methodological literature, was engaged in the training of teacher personnel, the scientific problems of language and history. He tried to convey the breadth and originality of his scientific developments to colleagues and students, sought to ensure that his activity as a scientist and public figure was as effective as possible. And just like all outstanding intellectuals, he could not limit himself to scientific work. In Gavril Arkadyevich, the scientist got along with the poet and fairy -tale.
Folklore had him with his living juices, prompting not only to explore the past, but to create real literature. And no overload could force this outstanding teacher and scientist to abandon writing. He was less engaged in prose, so stories occupy a small place in the artistic work of G. his main character and inspirer - his native Budzhak. On the basis of folklore works, G.
Gaidargi created a poetic fairy tale for children. The subtle humor, inherited by the traditional Gagauz quatrains, is filled with the Maani cycle. Gavril Arkadyevich received a well -deserved recognition. Even during the life of Gaidargi, he was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Gagauzia." In memory of him, the theoretical Lyceum in Comrat is named. A memorial cross is installed in the cemetery in Karbolia.
