Many of the conspirators were friends and relatives of Griboedov, so he himself came under suspicion of involvement in the uprising.

In January, Griboedov was arrested, but the investigation could not prove his belonging to a secret society. In September, Alexander Griboedov returned to Tiflis and continued his service: he was in diplomatic negotiations with Persia in Deakargan, conducted the correspondence of the military leader Ivan Paskevich, together they thought over military operations. In the year, Griboedov participated in the conclusion with the Persia of the Turkmanchai peace treaty that is beneficial for Russia.

The emperor awarded the writer-diplomat the official of the state adviser, the Order of St. Anna of the 2nd degree and appointed the plenipotentiary minister in Persia.
