Biography of Shakhlin Boris

I saw Boris Shahlin with my own eyes. In childhood and youth, she was engaged in skiing. Every summer went to the Sports camp "Youth" in our Sinitsinsky Bor. And once Boris Shahlin arrived at the camp, I studied at school in eighth grade. I remember the director of the camp, Nikolai Aleksandrovich Kazakov, presented us, the guys, a high guest, conducted an excursion to him in the camp. I remember how we were seated in a club where dances were held in the evenings.

In the camp there were wooden buildings in the club there were only benches and a table on which there was a remote control for a DJ and a column. We sat on benches, and Boris Shahlin and Nikolai Alexandrovich on chairs. Then only I found out that he was an Olympic champion. He behaved very modestly, smiled a lot, in appearance an ordinary intelligent grandfather educated.

It seemed to me that he loved children so kind eyes. This image was remembered by me since childhood.

Biography of Shakhlin Boris

I saw him once in my life. Recently I looked into the omnivorous Internet, in which I learned such information about her famous countryman - Ishimets: “For ten years, Boris Anfiyanovich Shahlin has been in Ukraine, the USSR and the leader of sports gymnastics in the world arena. During this time he won 97 medals. Actively participated in competitions up to 35 years. For gymnastics, this is a lot.

And then a negative habit that appeared in the school years affected. The athlete combined smoking with great physical exertion. Smoked Mahorka and Belomorkanal. As a result, at thirty -five, he received the first heart attack. From training, he was taken to intensive care. The career of the athlete is over. I could not train either. A way out of the situation for a world -famous athlete was found in refereeing.

Since the year, Shakhlin took part in the Olympic Games as a judge. And in the seventies he was elected vice president of the technical committee of the International Gymnastics Federation. Boris Anfiyanovich was distinguished by modesty. I asked for nothing for myself. But for others I achieved help often. And I did not wait for him to be asked. He loved and pamper his wife and daughter.

Boris Shahlin - a gymnast who played chess well, was fond of billiards. Was an interesting interlocutor. When the athlete’s older brother died, and the nephew from Tyumen wrote that his father had nothing to bury, Boris Shahlin sold his medals. He left only two granddaughter and daughter as a keepsake. He gave the proceeds to his nephew. He died at the age of 76 years.

They buried the great athlete in the Baykov cemetery in the city of Kyiv. Photo of the archive of Elena Kazakova, the author of the story.
