With such beliefs, he came to music and, changing one group after another, began a slow ascent to the heights of hard rock. The guy filled the most serious bumps in the Shrapnel team, which was formed in New York in the year.

The duties of the vocalist lay on Dave, and the future punk producer Daniel Rey Daniel Rey played the guitar in the group. The participants of Shrapnel Dbolgo swayed before they decided to make a serious professional recording. Only in the year they prepared the debut EP "Shrapnel", which included five tracks. The album went out on the Elektra label, but it didn’t go further, life divorced musicians in different directions.

Weindorf tried to play in other teams - without any dividends - and at some point even decided to completely leave music. But it turned out to be not so simple. Having decided to continue what was started, the musician began to master the guitar, which later very successfully succeeded. And already at the end of X he planned to once again try his luck in heavy music and began to look around on the musical stage of New Jersey in search of brothers in arms.

By this time, Dave realized that the musician’s crazy life was the only possible for him: to meet thousands of people, nowhere to linger for longer than one day, to establish a short -term relationship, to live in an eternal carnival of emotions. Only so, and nothing else. Fortunately, he found people who completely shared his position. Mixing their favorite ingredients borrowed by metal, punk, spat-clock and psychedelia, they created a rather dirty, reverbing hard rock-sound, thanks to which they immediately stood up apart in the midst of the Black Crowes, White Zombie and many, many others.

The advancement in the Big show business, the newly created group began with the publication of the Monster Magnet's debut EP, which included six tracks and was published on the German record label Glitterhouse Records. Although during the rehearsal, he soloed in the Croin group when it came to the recording, Vyndorf recorded all the vocal parties, and Kronin took the position of a “conceptual consultant”, like John Sinclair John Sinclair in the MC5 group.

Meanwhile, the negotiations of the group with the American Caroline Records label ended with the signing of the contract in the year. Then Monster Magnet prepared their full -format debut "Spine of God", a gloomy psychedelic canvas. One of the reviewers called Spine of God a metal album for those who hates metal albums. Themes of sex, drugs, evil are so funny upside down by trumpets that it is completely impossible to resist before the pointedness.

Unfortunately, the image of retro-rockers by the middle of the X seemed completely outdated and not notable: in the days of the Postnirvanovsky alternative paper, the retro rock was not interested in anyone.

As a result, LP "Superjudge" was sold rather sluggishly. Feeling enormous pressure from the records of recorded bosses, requiring a more tangible material return, the musicians recorded the very smooth album "Dopes to Infinity", which dominated the Space Coron. The disk included Rock Hit "Negasonic Teenage Warhead", which rose in the 20 rock chart Torus. Until the limit of the wait, the label was justified.

In the promotional tour in support of the album, warming teams replaced one another, one of the most interesting was the group C. Despite the rather successful tour and all efforts to promote, the disk did not use particular popularity, only slightly surpassing his predecessor. Tired of studio work and especially from intensive tour, Dave Vyndorf took a timeout and went to Las Vegas to think alone about the new material.

This is the embodiment of an unfulfilled American dream. This is one of the most fantastic and at the same time very real places on Earth. "His fortune was not the best, "as if I had returned from the war," says the musician. For six months, he could only ride a motorcycle, read old comics and feed the squirrel. When inspiration came, he wrote, as they say, binge - on the song per day.

The new long-play "Powertrip" made a real breakthrough, bringing the Monster Magnet career to a new round. It was the most “clean-up” hard-rok album of the group in their entire career. And the most successful in a commercial sense. He headed the HeatSeekers rating and marked in the first hundred hits of Billboard. The material "PowerTrip" reflected many vices of the modern world - greed, debauchery, cruelty.

Not without prophecies. The main motive reflects the line from the track "Temple of your Dreams": "Get up, baby, I come to you from your future." At the same time, as Vyndorf notes, he tried to return to music such an almost forgotten thing as a joke. The first single "Space Lord" began the victorious procession on the air in the summer of 98, pushing the album to the half -million circulation.

The song was very popular among Rock Fans, conquering the first three rock hits. With the new rhythm-guitarist Phil Kayvano Phil Caivano Monster Magnet went on the largest tour in their career, which lasted two years. They acted both as headliners and on the warm -up of other groups - Aerosmith, Metallica, Megadeth. Among the most interesting shows are performances on the same stage with Marilyn Manson.

The frontman took advantage of a respite after the tour for a very unusual lesson as a rocker: he read a course of lectures by Bowling Green University, with whom he shared his thoughts about the state of modern culture and its future. In the year, the team recorded the track "Silver Future" for the soundtrack Heavy Metal and completed work on their fifth album "God Says No", which was released in Europe in October.

The main reason, as it is logical to assume, was a changed situation in the musical market: against the backdrop of the ubiquitous boy-bends and lubricated pop princes, harsh long-haired rockers with electrihites looked quite ridiculous. The album was published in the States only a year later. Two rather interesting single, "Silver Future" and "Heads Explode", were noted in the Thor 30 rating of the mainstream rock.

But the precious first impetus was lost, and the success of the release in America was rather modest. According to the fans, "God Says No" turned out to be too commercial. It really was the softest, pop-oriented album in their discography, in which even synthesizers and an electronic drama machine sounded. The experimental courage of the restless Dave Vyndorf this time led to dubious results.

After this unforeseen failure, almost all the team members acquired their own sites. At the beginning of the year, Monster Magnet musicians united again and drove with a short round in North America, and a year later they signed a new contract with the German Label SPV.
