Garmaev biography
From the editor in the city and in it was drafted into the army. At first, the ordinary cavalry regiment served as an army deployed near Leningrad. In November, at the advanced Garmazhap Garmaev, he was a machine gunner in the Rifle Regiment of the 7th Infantry Division of the 7th Army of the North-Western Front. then a reconnaissance group of 40 Soviet fighters, consisting of snipers and shooters, was formed. G. G. was included in it, the group received the task: to penetrate the enemy’s rear, explore approaches to the enemy defense line, and determine the number of defenders. During the combat mission, the first detachment of scouts, which captured the “language”, was discovered.
Therefore, the second detachment had to cause fire on himself. As a result of a powerful mortar-artillery Finns, only two survived-Garmazhap Garmaev and the seriously wounded lieutenant Vasily Oreshkin, whom the warrior from Buryatia managed to take out from the battlefield under the cover of the night. In January, while in the hospital, Garmazhap Ayurovich found out that he was among the 11 commanders and fighters of the Red Army - the participants of the battles with the Finns - awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union.
It was a hero only 24 years old. The reward was personally presented to him in Moscow by the All -Union High Stock Mikhail Kalinin. Thus, he became the first of the Buryats, awarded the highest distinction of the country. He was wounded under Vyborg. Demobilized after the wound, returned to his homeland, worked as an instructor in the Dzhidinsky district committee of the party, at the local NKVD, studied at an agricultural college.
When the Great Patriotic War began, Garmazap Ayurovich immediately came to the district military enlistment office, but did not get to the front. In June, on the Mongol border, he first served as a translator, and then an assistant to the head of the outpost. Since May 1, Garmaev has been serving in the Brest Red Banner Border Detachment named after F. Dzerzhinsky as an assistant chief of staff of the 3rd border detention.
In the summer, G. died on June 16. He was buried in the garrison cemetery of G. The hero’s bust was also installed there. The meat processing plant in Petropavlovka Dzhidinsky district erected a monument, a separate stand is dedicated to it in the Kyakhtinsky Museum of Local Lore. Dzerzhinsky posted a stand with a photograph of G. Garmaev, a description of his exploits, milestones in the border detachment, a sleeve with the ground from the Hero's homeland.
