Biography Sergey Tkachenko
Its scientific director was Ilya Georgievich Lyuba - an amazing, talented architect who gave his whole life a profession, which he considered it for nothing from above. In many ways they were similar: Tkachenko and Lyuba always and had their own point of view, their professional opinion, and neither circumstances nor the authorities could influence it. It is impossible to talk about Sergey Borisovich Tkachenko in the past tense.
He is still with us, he is nearby-here and now, in each of the more than a hundred of his buildings, objects, structures, most of which have become iconic for Moscow. Muscovite by birth, Sergey Tkachenko - also Muscovite "by vocation", if I may say so. He loved his hometown and everything that he did in the capital as an architect was subordinated only to one desire: not to harm.
He always and everywhere defended his position in the most worthy way, which was helped by education, erudition, deep, truly encyclopedic knowledge and a sense of responsibility for each project, every architectural solution. At different times and on different projects, Sergei Tkachenko worked with his foreign colleagues. They listened to him, consulted with him and considered Norman Foster, Mario Bellinini, Jean-Michel Vilmot, Zakha Hadid, many other authoritative architects, urbanists, city-building urban builders.
It was a special pleasure to observe how vividly, with interest, “on one wave”, their mentor communicates with the young, how sincerely and gambling worried about his students at the time of defense of thesis. The public performances of Sergei Borisovich have always attracted listeners with a beautiful speech, a brilliant oratory style, the ability to create an atmosphere of respectful trust and professional ethics in any audience.
Easy, grace, irony were part of his undoubted architectural talent, which he generously shared with everyone. It was interesting to speak with him, he wanted to ask questions, because the answers were always unexpected: specific, in essence, but at the same time with figurative metaphors, well -aimed characteristics of people, an accurate assessment of events and phenomena.
Sergei Borisovich knew how to be surprised, and this property of character made him a tireless pioneer in everything that the mind was striving for, the soul lay, and what the heart responded to. Today, our hearts speak with pain from the loss of a great master, friend, colleagues, mentor.
